Robertson's Rundown: September 28, 2015

Throughout the 2015 volleyball season, freshman libero Hannah Robertson (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) will write about her experiences at Carson-Newman. A new installment will be released each Monday afternoon. Click on the links to read Robertson's passages.

Hi my loves! I hope you all have had a great week! The Lady Eagles had a jam packed week this past week and I can't wait to share it with you!

We started out the week with a home game on Tuesday against LMU. A whoppin' 900 cheering fans showed their support for our exciting five-set victory! It was their support and energy that helped fuel us to push through and clinch the W over the Railsplitters!

The next day we had a tough practice, but to keep it exciting Coach Dan switched the roles up a little bit. In reward for our hard work, the defense got a chance to hit, and the middles had to play defense. It's safe to say we all got a good laugh out of it. We spent the rest of the week preparing for Wingate, our conference rivals. Let me tell you, as a freshman I have to say that I have never experienced the atmosphere and support that our school showed for our match on Friday. We even had a DJ to keep us and the crowd hyped up throughout the match! The famous Mossy Creek Maniacs led by our number one fan, Lucy Pennington Russell painted up with our favorite saying, C-N OR DIE! The excitement in the gym pushed us to beat Wingate easily in the first set, but unfortunately we lost the next three.

In the moment we were devastated, but looking back on it, we choose to see it as opportunity for growth and not failure. That night Coach Dan sent us an inspiring quote, "Success is never final, failure is never fatal. It's the courage that counts."

The way we responded the next day really showed us how much heart the Carson Newman Eagles really have. We fought with all we had for two victories over Coker and Montevallo. Although we were exhausted from the play over the weekend, we never lost our drive to compete and win. We will continue to push ourselves this week in practice as we prepare for two more games in our six home game streak, in hopes to finish it off with two more W's.

Love and God Bless,

Hannah Robertson
