Borch named to SAC All-Tournament team

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following the South Atlantic Conference Tournament title game Sunday afternoon, the league announced that junior middle blocker Maddie Borch (Walnut Creek, Calif.) was one of seven players named to the All-Tournament team.

It is the second straight season that a Carson-Newman middle blocker was placed on the All-Tournament team after current assistant coach Jenna Wilson was honored in 2014.

In a quarterfinal victory against Anderson (S.C.) on Friday, Borch finished with 17 kills while hitting .368 coupled with a career-high eight digs and five total blocks including four solo rejections.

The first-team All-SAC selection led all players with 15 kills on a .609 attack percentage, three solo blocks and four total blocks in a loss to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday.

Over the weekend, Borch upped her attack percentage to .351 which sits in second place on the program's all-time list for a single season.

Carson-Newman lost in the SAC semifinals to the eventual champion Lenoir-Rhyne as the Bears earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The full field will be announced Monday at 7:30 p.m.
