Blue Knighthawks Take Game One of Series Behind McIntyre and Rogers

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Blue Knighthawks won game one of the Blue and Orange World Series, 7-6, on Sunday afternoon. 

Wes McIntyre (Chattanooga, Tenn.) went seven innings, giving up one run on five hits.  He struck out six batters to pick up a win in game one. 

Mike Mullin (Bradenton, Fla.) pitched two thirds of an inning to pick up a save. 

The Blue Knighthawks would take a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run home run by Mills Rogers (Simpsonville, S.C.). 

The Orange Team would pick up a run the bottom of the first on a Jeff Lockwood (Knoxville, Tenn.) single, driving in Cody Nix (Cartersville, Ga.), who had tripled with one out. 

The Blue Knighthawks would add a run in the second inning and two runs in the seventh to take a 6-1 lead.  

Rogers would add another RBI on a sac fly in the eighth, for the seventh and ultimately the winning run for the Blue Team. 

The losing pitcher for the Orange Team was DJ Ferguson (Jupiter, Fla.).  Ferguson pitched four innings giving up four runs and striking out nine.  Game two is slated for 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

COACH GREG ROGERS- "Wes was huge, he kept us in game.  Robby will compete tomorrow like Wes did today"

COACH MATT WARD-" I am very impressed with bottom of 9th and the way we finished.  The miscues early, even those before the game cost us.  Hats off to McIntyre, very dominating performance.  I can't wait for game 2."
