C-N’s Rogers Named Second Team All-Region by Daktronics

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman shortstop Mills Rogers (Simpsonville, S.C.) has been named to the 2010 Daktronics Southeast All-Regional Baseball Team, officials announced earlier this week.
 
Rogers batted .378 this season in leading the Eagles to a 31-18 record. The senior led the team with 18 doubles. He was third on the team with 10 home runs, 50 runs scored, and 58 RBIs.
 
A first team All-South Atlantic Conference selection at shortstop, Rogers turned in a number of memorable games in his final season as an Eagle, including a two-home run performance in an 11-2 win over King College.
 
Erskine's Bryan Fogle earns 2010 Daktronics Southeast Region Player of the Year honors and Georgia College and State University's Martin Dewald earned the 2010 Daktronics Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year award to highlight the release of the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Teams.
 
Fogle, the 2010 Conference Carolinas Co-Player of the Year, had a .429 batting average in 54 games for the Flying Fleet.  He leads the country in home runs, RBIs and total bases.  He is just three RBIs away from breaking the NCAA Division II single season record, and he broke three NCAA Division II career records -- home runs, RBIs and total bases.  This season he has 27 homers with 22 doubles and 102 RBIs.  
 
Dewald, a First Team All-Peach Belt member, ranks 17th in the NCAA in wins, 30th in strikeouts and 28 in strikeouts per nine innings.  He had compiled a 9-1 record in the 13 appearances for the Bobcats and recored 89 strikeouts in 78.2 innings.
 
Fogle and Dewald are joined on the First Team All-Southeast Region by their college teammates Chas Anthony of Erskine at second base and Sean Harrell of GCSU in the outfield.  GCSU had six total members selected to the first and second teams.
