Eagles’ Hendrickson selected fifth overall in Frontier League Draft

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.—Carson-Newman senior Ryan Hendrickson (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) was selected Wednesday as fifth overall pick by the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier Baseball League.

Hendrickson was the first pick for the Beach Bums. As a senior at C-N, Hendrickson went 4-0 in 17 games this season. He finished the year with two saves for the Eagles and a 4.86 ERA.

In 33.1 innings, the right-hander struck out an eye-popping 46 batters and held opponents to a .212 average against.

As a junior in 2009, Hendrickson went 3-3. For his C-N career, the Port St. Lucie, FL native whiffed 96 batters in 70.2 innings. Overall in 36 appearances (five starts) he went 7-3 with a 4.71 ERA, six saves and held opposing hitters to a .231 batting average.

C-N finished the year 31-18.
