Former Eagle Schrock Returns to Carson-Newman as Pitching Coach

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Carson-Newman baseball coach Tom Griffin announced the addition of former Eagle Brad Schrock to his coaching staff on Wednesday.

Schrock returns to C-N to take over as pitching coach for the second time in his career after holding the same position with the Eagles from 2004-05. He replaces Matt Ward, who recently left to take a job in Columbus, Ga.

"It's very hard to lose a guy like Matt Ward, but his family had a great opportunity in Columbus, Ga.," Griffin said. "Matt was a big reason for our success on the field and off. We are very fortunate to find someone who has been in our program and has a handle on our expectations."

"I recruited Brad from Glen Oaks, and we have maintained a friendship since he graduated from Carson-Newman. He is a high energy guy, who has coached at every level of baseball. He is a teacher and a motivator."

Schrock comes to Mossy Creek after serving as head baseball coach at Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C., from 2008-10. While in Raleigh, he guided Millbrook to a pair of conference championships.

Prior to coaching at Millbrook, Schrock held the pitching coach duties at Campbell University from 2006-07 and at C-N from 2004-05.

Schrock began his coaching career at Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville, Mich., in 2003. He was also a standout pitcher at Glen Oaks from 1999-2000 as he led the team to a third place finish in the NJCAA World Series in 2000 and earned All-Tournament honors.

After playing two seasons at Glen Oaks, Schrock transferred to C-N, where he had two stellar seasons with the Eagles from 2001-2002. He helped lead C-N to a SAC title and a NCAA regional berth in 2002 by going 7-4 on the mound.

In high school, the Goshen, Ind., native played at Bethany Christian and he was recently inducted into the school's Hall of Fame.

Schrock graduated from C-N in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in leisure services and went on to acquire a master's degree in education from Lincoln Memorial in 2005.

Schrock is married to the former Megan McBee. They have a 2-year-old daughter, Evey.
