Former Eagle Mullen picked up by the New York Federals of the Can-Am Assocation

NEW YORK — Former Carson-Newman pitcher Mike Mullen (Bradenton, Fla.) has been picked up by the New York State League Federals of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.

Mullen has appeared in three games for the Federals, pitching 4 2/3 innings with a 5.79 earned run average. He also has one strikeout and has allowed four hits.

Mullen had a stellar senior campaign for the Eagles in 2011. The right-hander made 25 appearances, compiled a 2-0 record and recorded three saves. He turned in a team-leading 1.16 ERA in 31 innings pitched with 21 strikeouts and an opponent's batting average of .281.

The New York Federals are a traveling team in the NYSL, which serves as the official developmental league of the Can-Am Association.
