Carson-Newman's Thigpen named SAC Pitcher of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman's Robby Thigpen (St. Petersburg, Fla.) has been named South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday.

Thigpen, a junior right-hander, fired a complete-game one-hitter to lead the Eagles to a 2-1 victory over Anderson on Saturday, completing a three-game sweep of the Trojans.

Thigpen allowed only a sixth-inning single on his way to improving to 1-1 on the season. He gave up one run, struck out four and recorded nine fly outs on the day.

Lincoln Memorial senior outfielder Cody Pack was named SAC Player of the Week. He led the Railsplitters to a perfect 5-0 mark last week, including a conference series sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne University. He hit .632 for the week (12-of-19), had three home runs, scored 10 runs and drove in 14 runs.

The Eagles return to the diamond at home on Wednesday with a single game against King College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.
