Carson-Newman's Nix receives ABCA Gold Glove honors

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — Carson-Newman senior outfielder Cody Nix (Cartersville, Ga.) has been named a 2011 American Baseball Coaches Association Division II Southeast Region Gold Glove award winner, officials announced Friday.

Nix, who started 49 games for the Eagles, was the premier outfielder in the South Atlantic Conference this season with a fielding percentage of 1.000 on 111 putouts. He finished with four assists. Nix was also named to the 2011 SAC Gold Glove Team.

Montevallo's Heather Peterson and Alex Guilford, Limestone's Micah Robinson, Anderson's Blake May, Columbus State's Eric Skinner, Francis Marion's Brian Paulhus and Budd Sosnoskie and Armstrong's Michael Price join Nix on the Gold Glove Team.

The ABCA All-Southeast Region and Gold Glove teams are selected by a vote of the coaches in the region.
