Carson-Newman's Dalton named SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman's Jonathan Dalton (Rutledge, Tenn.) and Wingate Univesity's Casey Allison have been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Players of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

Dalton, a senior outfielder, batted .450 (9-for-20) with three doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs on the week. He also scored seven runs and had a slugging percentage of 1.050.

He went 8-for-14 at the plate with three doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs during the three-game conference series against Brevard, including a 3-for-5 effort with two home runs and six RBIs in the series opener.

Allison, a junior outfielder from Horse Shoe, N.C., help lead Wingate to a 4-1 week that included a SAC sweep over Lenoir-Rhyne. His week was highlighted with a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth in Saturday's seven-inning game. Allison racked up 10 hits on the week, including three homers and three doubles, driving in 10 and scoring eight. He finished his week by going four-for-four with a double, homer, four RBI and run scored to help Wingate overcome a four-run deficit.

Catawba's Nick Lomascolo, a sophomore from Mooresville, N.C., won Pitcher of the Week honors for the second week in a row. Lomascolo earned a save and a win in two appearances last week, while not allowing a run over eight and two-thirds innings of work.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday at home against North Georgia. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.
