NORMAN, Okla. – The Carson-Newman men's golf team opens its season holding a share of 16th in the nation, according to the preseason poll released by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Friday afternoon.

The reigning South Atlantic Conference champions made it to the NCAA Division II Men's South/Southeast Regional for a second straight year this past season, tying for ninth in the field.

Throughout last season, the Eagles were ranked as high as 15th in the nation, according to Golfstat and 18th from the GCAA. They start the season tied with Indianapolis, a team that made it to the national semifinal

The Eagles welcome all five of their members back who participated in the Southeast Regional a season ago including junior Tom Forster (Oundle, England) who made it to the national championship tournament as an individual.

Joining the back-to-back SAC champions as league representatives in the poll are Lincoln Memorial at No. 10 and Newberry at No. 12.

National runner-up West Florida sits as the top team in the nation followed by reigning champion Lynn at No. 2 and Barry at No. 3.

The Eagles open their season at the Coker Fall Challenge at the Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. on Sept. 10 and 11.
