
Eagles Tally Improved Team Round, Finish 13th at Hurricane Invitational

"We played better team golf today not having to count a high score," head coach Randy Wylie said. "However, it was not good enough to significantly climb the leaderboard. We have some work to do to prepare for our final event of the fall."
Nick Daugherty led the way for C-N, shooting a 71 to tie for 16th and finish the event at 2-under. Daugherty birdied and shot six pars on the front nine, but a pair of bogeys sent him to the final stretch at 1-over. However, he dropped a pair of strokes on the back nine courtesy of four birdies, overcoming a pair of bogeys to finish the round at 1-under.
Elliot MacGregor finished the event tied for 21st following a 75-stroke third round to finish at 1-under. MacGregor tallied an eagle and a birdie to enter the back nine at 1-under despite a pair of bogeys on the front nine. He notched seven pars in the final stretch, but two double bogeys added four strokes to his total to finish at 3-over.
Sophomore Noah Cambridge climbed four spots in the final round after shooting a 71 to finish 60th at 7-over. Cambridge dropped a pair of strokes on the front nine thanks to two birdies and the other holes at par. Despite a birdie on the back nine, the sophomore added a stroke on two bogeys to finish the round at 1-under.
Freshman Owen Larson jumped three spots on day two, shooting a 73 to finish 69th at 11-over. Despite two holes over par on the front nine, the freshman tallied a bogey to limit the damage and enter the back nine at 2-over. Larson birdied three times on the back nine, overcoming a pair of bogeys and dropping a stroke off his total to finish the round at 1-over.
Freshman Stefans Spruzs finished in 79th after an 82-stroke third round, closing the event at 26-over. Spruzs shot three pars on the front nine, but five holes over par sent him to the back nine at 6-over. Spruzs added five pars on the back nine, but four bogeys added four strokes to his total to finish the round at 10-over.
The Eagles will look to regroup, taking a few weeks off before closing out the fall season at the Currahee Invitational on October 21st and 22nd in Toccoa, Georgia.
