GREENWOOD, Ind. – With success on the field and in the classroom, Kensho Yoshikoshi has been tabbed an Academic All-District® Men's Soccer first-team selection, as announced on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

This is the third consecutive year an Eagle has received the honor and the first for Yoshikoshi.

The award winners are recognized by CoSIDA as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. The C-N defender is one of the 12 players lauded from NCAA Division II's third district which includes the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and Peach Belt Conference.

The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

Through his two seasons at Carson-Newman, Yoshikoshi has started in all 33 of his appearances. He has scored five goals, all coming in the form of headers. He has added three assists for a career-total 13 points. This season, the Tokyo, Japan native has found the back of the net three times. His most recent header in the 2-2 tie with then-No. 19 Wingate helped him to receive his first AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolade on Nov. 5.

Off the pitch, Yoshikoshi holds a 3.89 GPA as a graduate student and is currently pursuing a Masters in Business. He was tabbed a Platinum Eagle Scholar in September after maintaining a 4.0 GPA through his first year at C-N.

With his honor, Yoshikoshi now puts his name onto the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. That list will be announced in early December.
