ATLANTA, Ga. – Eagles swimming wraps up two-day meet at the Emory Invitational with both men's and women's teams earning third overall.
The Emory Invitational took place in Atlanta, Ga. over the course of this past weekend where Carson-Newman faced off against Emory University and fellow SAC opponent, Wingate. The two-day Invitational included a total of 42 events where both squads earned third place in the team placing.
On the men's side , Emory ended the meet in first place with a total score of 759. Wingate followed up Emory with a final score of 523. Carson-Newman rounded out the top-3 earning 419 points behind second place finishes from Arthur Gluzman in the 50-yard freestyle (20.56) and the 100-yard butterfly (48.31). Daniel de Oliveira took second place in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:40.43. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Eagles swimmers Daniel de Oliveira, Will Humphreys, Tyler Schehr, and Arthur Gluzman won third place in a time of 3:03.15.
The Women's squad ended the day with 412 points and a third place finish as a team. Emory secured the first place spot with a score of 820 with Wingate locking up second place with 500 points. In the 200-yard medley relay, Eagles swimmers Sarah Covington, Megan Corcoran, Breanna Belcher, and Olivia Muir earned third place in a time of 1:44.97. Emma Bowling placed third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.64 and Megan Corcoran earned first place 400-yard IM in a time of 4:27.28.
Carson-Newman returns back to Mossy Creek for a rest week before hitting the road to the University of South Carolina for the Gamecock Invitational beginning Nov. 20th at the Carolina Natatorium in Columbia, S.C.
