Eagles take down E&H and Milligan on Homecoming Weekend

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman swimming breaks away from Emory & Henry and Milligan in the first official home meet of the season.

The Eagles welcomed SAC opponent Emory & Henry and Division three Milligan to the Maddox Student Activities Center on C-N's homecoming which saw the Eagles win a close meet. 

The men's squad came in first place scoring a total of 208 points in the meet this Saturday. Milligan's men's team secured second place with 216 points followed by Emory & Henry 134 points. The Eagles had multiple standout performances in the meet, highlighted by Daniel De Oliveira earning first overall in the 200-yard Freestyle in a time of 1:40.63. Junior Will Humphreys earned a first place finish in the 100-yard Backstroke in a time of 50.22 and Arthur Gluzman earned first in the 50-yard Freestyle in a time of 20.69. 

The Eagles sweep the Wasps of Emory & Henry after taking home the victory in the home and away series making the Eagles 3-0 in SAC competition. Carson-Newman last faced Milligan in 2022 where the Eagles defeated the Buffaloes in a score of  258-152.

Looking at the Women's side, the team earned first with a score 205. Milligan slotted in second place with a score of 195 followed by Emory & Henry with 54 points. The Eagles found success behind performances like Megan Corcoran earning first place in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:02.95) and the 100-yard Butterfly (56.85). Sarah Covington came away with a pair of first place finishes with one in the 100-yard backstroke (56.20) and the other in the 200-yard Backstroke (2:03.79). The squad was helped by other first place finishes by Emma Bowling, Olivia Muir, and Breanna Belcher.

Carson-Newman gets back in action this Friday, Nov. 8th at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center in Atlantia, Ga. in the two day Emory Invitational meet with starting times TBA.
