JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Coming off a homecoming week victory against Emory & Henry and Milligan in the first home meet of the season, Carson-Newman gets back on the road at the Madeleine Jude Brown Acquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. for the Emory Invitational beginning this Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9th.

"Going into the meet against E&H and Milligan we knew it was going to be a jam-packed weekend," said head coach Ben Young. "That was intentional on our end. We wanted to make sure that we celebrated swimming on campus. We've typically been away on homecoming so it was nice to have a home meet and pack the house. The energy was unreal from start to finish."

For the fourth season in a row the Eagles will make the trip to Emory University for the Emory Invitational meet. The Eagles will face another round of high-level competition in Emory University and fellow SAC school Wingate.

"It's a big week and our last opportunity to see some races prior to  mid-season," said Young. I think that is a big thing for everybody involved and going down and being intentional about our races and making sure that we are piecing some of these races together that we're going to see again."

Although the Emory Invitational is a familiar venue for the Eagles squad, Ben Young knows how important it is to have experience in a race like the ones this weekend.

"Every pool is a little different…so some of those returning swimmers are going to have a general knowledge of what that pool looks like," Young said. "This is just another opportunity for the team to learn how to adapt in the grand scheme of things, because if you can adapt to a pool then you can adapt in life. I think returners will approach it a bit better but I think newcomers will do a good job as well."

As Carson-Newman gets further into the season, Young has been happy with the level of leadership and accountability that his team has displayed up to this point.

"Eli Poole had a fantastic performance last weekend and was hype about it and rightfully so," Young stated. "He has been through the ringer when it comes to life in general, and for him to swim much faster than what he was expecting was a testament to who he is as a person and what he is attempting to do as a senior on this team."

Carson-Newman swimming gets back in the pool beginning this Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatics Center in Atlanta, Ga. at the Emory Invitational.
