ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference released the 2024 Preseason Swimming Coaches Poll where the Eagles placed second on the women's overall and third overall for the men this Friday, Oct. 11.
Carson-Newman women's swimming earned a total score of 20 with one first place vote in the preseason coaches poll. Results from this poll are based off of the 23-2024 SAC Championships results.
"Always fun to see where coaches think the teams are prior to the season starting," said Ben Young. "I would have ranked things a bit differently on both sides, but in the end, all that matters is that it shows we have work to do."
The women's poll saw the Eagles place second behind Wingate who earned 25 points with five first place votes. Carson-Newman was followed by Catawba (18), Lenoir-Rhyne (13), Mars Hill (8), Emory & Henry (6). The SAC also named Emma Bowling and Olivia Muir to the SAC Swimmer to Watch List for 2024.
The men's team placed third overall in the SAC Preseason Poll with a total score of 18. Ahead of the Eagles was Wingate with a score of 25 with five first place votes followed by Catawba with 20 points and one first place vote. Carson-Newman was followed by Lenoir-Rhyne (13), Mars Hill (9), and Emory & Henry (5). The men named to the SAC Swimmers to Watch List were Aurthur Gluzman and Daniel de Oliviera.
The Eagles make their way to Blacksburg, Va. to take on Virginia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Christiansburg, Aquatics Center.
