    JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman director of soccer Richard Moodie has announced the signing of three student athletes to the C-N women’s soccer class of 2017. The signings bring the Eagles’ total to 12 for the year.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women’s soccer program has signed nine players for its 2013 signing class, announced by head coach Richard Moodie on Monday. Four of the nine signees are from the state of Tennessee, and Moodie believes this signing class will add talent to the 2013 Eagles roster.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (3-11-2, 1-7-1 South Atlantic Conference) women’s soccer team finished the 2012 season on a positive note with a 1-0 victory over the Mars Hill Lions (6-12, 2-7 South Atlantic Conference) on Saturday evening at McCown Field. Sophomore midfielder Sidnee Edwards scored the lone goal in the victory, as the Eagles earned their first win since Sept. 8.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Tuesday’s match between the Carson-Newman Eagles (2-11-2, 0-7-1 South Atlantic Conference) women’s soccer team and the North Alabama Lions has been cancelled, announced by Carson-Newman head coach Richard Moodie on Monday afternoon. The non-conference match, originally scheduled for 3 p.m. at McCown Field, will not be made up at a later date.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (2-11-2, 0-7-1 South Atlantic Conference) women’s soccer team fell to the Anderson Trojans (7-5-3, 4-2-2 South Atlantic Conference) by a 1-0 score at McCown Field on Saturday evening. The Eagles outshot the Trojans 13-11 in the match, yet Carson-Newman could not get a shot past Anderson goalkeeper Kaitlyn Neipp.

The women’s match between Carson-Newman and Anderson will begin at 4:30 p.m. while the men’s match between the Eagles and Trojans will follow at 7 p.m.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (2-10-2, 0-6-1 South Atlantic Conference) women’s soccer team fought to a double-overtime scoreless draw against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans (7-2-3) at the TNU Soccer Complex on Wednesday night. Carson-Newman goalkeepers senior Tiarna McKenna (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) and freshman Kendra Ivins (Chattanooga, Tenn.) worked the entire match between the posts, not allowing a goal in 110 minutes while combining to collect three saves.

    HICKORY, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (2-10-1, 0-6-1 South Atlantic Conference) women’s soccer team fell to the no. 20 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (11-1, 7-0 South Atlantic Conference) by a 2-0 score at Irwin Belk Track on Saturday evening. The loss continues Carson-Newman’s winless drought, as the Eagles have not won a match since Sept. 8, and have now lost eight of their last nine matches.

    BREVARD, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (2-9-1, 0-5-1 South Atlantic Conference) women’s soccer team fought to a double-overtime 1-1 draw against the Brevard Tornados (1-10-2, 0-5-1 South Atlantic Conference) on Wednesday afternoon. Junior forward Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) scored a goal in her fourth straight match for the Eagles, and she now leads Carson-Newman with five goals in the 2012 campaign.

Former Eagles are encouraged to take part in the men’s and women’s alumni games, which will begin at 10 a.m. on McCown Field.

Both Eagle teams are looking to get back on the winning track, with the women’s team looking to snap a six-match losing streak, while the men’s team hasn’t won since Sept. 19.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (2-8, 0-4 South Atlantic Conference) women’s soccer team rallied for a pair of late goals, yet fell to the Tusculum Pioneers (9-1-1, 4-0 South Atlantic Conference) by a 3-2 score at McCown Field on Wednesday night. After trailing 3-0, the Eagles saw goals scored by junior forward Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) and junior midfielder Maleya Garrison (Hendersonville, Tenn.) in the final twelve minutes, yet Tusculum didn’t allow any goals in the final six minutes to escape Mossy Creek with the 3-2 victory.

Junior forward Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) scored for Carson-Newman in the loss.

The loss is Carson-Newman’ s fifth straight, although junior forward Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) added her second goal of the season for the Eagles in the first period.

The Eagles are coming off of a 3-0 loss at Wingate last Saturday, and Carson-Newman head coach Richard Moodie said not having a match during the week has helped his team.

Freshman midfielder Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) scored Carson-Newman’s lone goal in the match on a penalty kick in the 31st minute mark of the first period. The goal is Gregg’s third of the season.

Junior midfielder Slyvia Palermo (Wintergarden, Fla.) scored Carson-Newman’s lone goal in the match, her first of the season for the Eagles.

Last week the Eagles picked up victories against Milligan and Lees-McRae on the road.

After 80 scoreless minutes, Carson-Newman got the winning goal on a strike by junior forward Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario) from 20 yards out on the right flank to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, which would be the final score.

The win marks the first victory for the Lady Eagles under Carson-Newman Director of Soccer and Head Coach Richard Moodie.

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles (0-2) finished their first weekend of play with a 2-1 loss in overtime against the Pfeiffer Falcons (1-1) on Saturday at the Queens Soccer Complex. Carson-Newman’s Mikayla Gregg scored the first goal of the year for the Lady Eagles with just under thirteen minutes left in the second period to tie the game. Her shot was from 22 yards out, and helped send the match into overtime.

After playing to a scoreless draw in the first period, Queens scored three goals in the second period for the victory.

    WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles soccer team beat the University of the Cumberlands Patriots 3-1 in an exhibition match on Saturday. The win caps the exhibition schedule for the Lady Eagles, who previously beat King College 2-0 on August 18. “We’re off to the right start,” said Carson-Newman head coach and Director of Soccer Richard Moodie. “We’re ready for the regular season and the real deal this week. Still room for improvement but very happy, the girls are scoring goals.”
