CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Carson-Newman women's golfer Meridith Hawkins (Powell, Tenn.) has capped off a stellar freshman campaign with an All-American Scholar honor from the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

A 2013 SAC first team All-Tournament selection, Hawkins garners the honor because her grade point average is above the minimum threshold of 3.50.  In fact, Hawkins maintained a perfect 4.0 in her opening year at Mossy Creek.

The biology and health professions major was also a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.  On the links she notched a pair of top five finishes, taking fourth at the Pinehurst Challenge and fifth at the SAC Championships.
