Suzanne Strudwick Interview

The Eagles will play the Greg Norman-designed course at the Savannah Quarters Country Club.

"His courses are typically very Floridian in that it's all placement off the tee to the green," C-N head women's golf coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "You have to watch for water. We'll work on that in the practice round to set us up for success. We're excited too because we know it'll be a great conditioned golf course."

Carson-Newman will be without the services of Meridith Hawkins (Powell, Tenn.), who tallied a top five finish at the World Golf Invite. In her place, the Eagles will send freshman Jessica Hart (Roanoke, Va.), who beat out Hawkins in a team qualifying event in the week leading up to the tournament.

"We'll stay true to form in that everyone has to qualify and nobody is safe," Strudwick said. "As a coach, you can always say you'll take your number one regardless. But at the same time, I wanted to give Jessica a chance to play.  She had the second highest qualifying round and now she and the rest of the girls have to step up."

The Eagles are coming off a seventh-place finish at the World Golf Invitational. The Armstrong Pirate Women's Invitational features several South Atlantic Conference competitors as well as three teams ranked in the WGCA poll.

The Eagles are receiving votes in the latest iteration of the rankings.
