JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman's women's golf team will play in its final regular season tournament before the South Atlantic Conference tournament at the Agnes McAmis Invitational hosted by Tusculum in Greeneville, Tenn. at Link Hills.

The event will be the first for C-N in nearly a month.

"We used this time to rest and get rid of injuries," Carson-Newman head women's golf coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "We've had some productive time in the gym as well as a sports psychologist come work with them on their mental games. This week is a warm-up to get ready for the SAC tournament. It's a testing tournament."

Half the league is in the tournament. Anderson, Lincoln Memorial, Mars Hill, Brevard, Catawba, Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne all will compete alongside Carson-Newman. Lee, Converse, North Greenville and Shorter round out the field.

"This is a win-win tournament, you either win it and go into the SAC tournament with a ton of confidence," Strudwick said. "But even if you lose, you still get to see where you lie with regards to other teams and adjust for the tournament at Sevierville."

Meridith Hawkins leads Carson-Newman with a 78.1 stroke average. Strudwick expects her to lead the charge for the final regular season event.

"I am truly excited for Meridith and where she's at," Strudwick said. "She understands the position she's in and wants to perform well considering it. She has enough time to fine tune her game and be totally ready."

The Eagles tee off Monday morning.
