Manon Compagner named BMC Female Swimmer of the Week

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Sophomore Manon Compagner (Balkburg, The Netherlands) has been named the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Female Swimmer of the Week after her performance in C-N's dual-meet against Milligan on Nov. 7th in Jefferson City, Tennessee.

Compagner won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.52 and was part of the winning 200-yd medley relay, who finished with a time of 1:42.92. Compagner also took part in the 400-yd freestyle relay winning team with a time of 3:26.43.

"It's a great honor to be named Female Swimmer of the Week." Compagner said. "I'm honored to be named Female Swimmer of the Week, but I know bigger teams still have to compete."

Her performances helped C-N to a combined victory over the Buffaloes in the team's first meet of the 2020-21 season, winning 381-141.

It is the second time in Compagner's career that she has received the honor.

"Manon has a different start to the season, getting fitter and stronger every week. Her 100-yd butterfly time puts her at third in the country, not far behind from the top time." Carson-Newman head coach Jordan Taylor said. "For her to put up a time like she did to achieve this award is impressive, especially since it compares to times against Division I competition as well as at Conference Championships and at Nationals."

Compagner and the Eagles look forward to hosting the Bulldogs of Wingate this Saturday, Nov. 14th inside the MSAC and building upon the 24-3 home record since the program started back in 2013.

"We're not sure what we're up against yet, but we know they're hard to beat." Compagner said. "Everyone is ready to have this tougher competition and see where we are when it comes to competing against bigger schools."
