Biro's Breakdown: September 19, 2016

Throughout the 2016 volleyball season, freshman middle blocker Alex Biro (Ootlewah, Tenn.) will write about her experiences at Carson-Newman with the volleyball program. A new installment will be released each Monday afternoon.

This week was the first of many to come—three matches, one home and two away! Especially for us freshman, most of our weeks from here on out are going to resemble this. We are slowly but surely learning how to manage schoolwork and SNAP hours, rehab, games/practices, etc. and are doing pretty well so far if I do say so myself.

Our Tuesday match against LMU was volleyball at its finest: hard work, struggles, triumphs, and most of all, a whole lotta fun. Although the game ended up favoring the Railsplitters, we were excited to see how much fight we have and how far that can take us.

The next two days were spent prepping our mind and bodies for our journey to Anderson, S.C. for our Friday game against the Trojans. After a bit of a shaky start, that fight came back out and we held them until the end… ultimately AU took the win.

Our Saturday match against Newberry was a bit less hopeful, and as we learn how to work with our highs and lows, we will grow stronger mentally and physically. With another weekend on the road coming up, we are ready for a week of hard work and getting better.

Have a great week!
