Results and Highlights

PITTSBURG, Kan. - After Luke Greer took second-team All-America honors in day one of the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships, all three Carson-Newman competitors earned the accolade following Saturday's performances from Devon Moore and Jahvad McDermott at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Moore collected a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter finals with a time of 6.86 seconds officially giving the sophomore first-team All-America honors after he grabbed second-team plaudits in 2018. The Baxley, Ga. native had reached the final after running a season-low time of 6.78 seconds in the prelim race. The 2019 title was taken by Jonte Baker of Tiffin who ran the event in 6.62 seconds.

The sprinter, who will enter his outdoor season as a freshman, marked the first Eagle to earn indoor All-America honors in the 60-meter dash in school history in the Division II era.

"I feel grateful, humble, and blessed," Moore said. "It was an honor to be running today and it was a dream come true."

McDermott placed in 11th in the triple jump after clearing 14.80 meters, his second-best mark of the year in the event earning his first-career All-America honors as a second-team member. Freshman Ryan Brown of Lincoln took home the championship with a jump of 16.01 meters.

The Brooklyn, New York native becomes the first Eagle to earn indoor All-America honors in the triple jump in school history in the Division II era.

"Feels good to be an All-American but I wanted more out of my performance so I can't be satisfied," McDermott said. "Things went different than expected but it was a great learning experience and this will help me on my journey towards outdoor nationals."

All three Eagles who competed this weekend earned All-America honors following Luke Greer's second-team appearance on Friday in the 5000-meter run.

"We're excited for those kids," Coach David Needs said. "It's a big check mark to bring three kids and have all of them walk away as All-Americans. There's obviously some things as a coach you wish could have gone better but I'm proud of all three of them. They did a great job standing out here and battling against some of the best in the nation this weekend and that's all you can ask as a coaching staff."
