JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Following an impressive performance at the Lenoir-Rhyne Southside Power & Fitness Invitational to open up the 2019 outdoor season, Carson-Newman takes the jaunt to Black Mountain, N.C. for the Montreat College Invitational on March 29-30 at Pulliam Stadium/Howard Fisher Memorial Field.

Coach David Needs' group grabbed nine first-place finishes two weeks ago in Hickory, N.C., the highest total in a single meet in at least five years.

"I think we'll be in even better shape this weekend," Needs said. "We had some athletes who didn't compete a whole lot in that first meet so we just wanted to be really careful with and this meet we will have a little more focus and purpose with what we are doing. We're expecting big things this weekend."

Luke Greer (Northhampton, England) will be competing on Friday in Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Open where he will compete in the 10k race. You can find the broadcast link for the weekend's events here.

Kathie O'Neill has been cleared by the NCAA after missing out on the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships giving the Eagles more depth for distance events.

"Kathie is an amazing athlete and they could write a book about the things she's had to endure and go through," Needs said. "She would've set separate school records in indoors and she's very inspired to run but we're glad the NCAA could see that she deserved another year.

"For Luke, we committed a long time ago that to be a great program we were willing to take our kids to the best meets and anywhere they needed to in order to perform and that platform. Luke has earned it and he will be in a very prestigious meet."

At current standing, Greer is just one of five Division II runners that will compete in the 10k event on Friday. Runners from Boston College, Florida, Notre Dame, Virginia, NC State, Louisville, Ohio State, and more are expected to participate alongside the senior.

Pulliam Stadium/Howard Fisher Memorial Field serves as home to the men's and women's soccer teams as well as men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's track & field. The field is named after former Montreat soccer standout Howard Fisher.
