KINGSVILLE, Texas – Devon Moore (Baxley, Ga.) tallied two of Carson-Newman's three All-America plaudits in the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Saturday night at Javelinas Stadium.
The sophomore took first-team honors in both the 100 and 200-meter events while Luke Greer (Northampton, England) added on a second-team performance in the nightcap's 5,000 meter.
As a whole, Carson-Newman ended up 18th in the nation on the team scoreboard. The Eagles brought in 16 points throughout the three days.
"So proud of our kids for the entire championship," Carson-Newman Director of Track & Field David Needs said. "We brought four athletes for six events and to walk away with 6 All-Americans says so much for how these guys competed. Our coaches, Eric Phillips, Tyler Stepp and Kieran Showler-Davis and our Athletic Trainer Kelly Brock worked extremely hard to make sure our athletes were ready for this championship. I cannot say enough for their work in all of this.
"I am very pleased with the state of our program. We are blessed with the athletes we have and the talent we are able to bring to the program and to events like this."
Moore started the Eagles' day with a 10.32-second dash in the 100 meter, good enough for bronze in the event. He was just .15 seconds out of first with Tiffin's Jonte Baker taking gold.

Just over an hour later, he returned to the track for the 200-meter final. He finished in 21.19 seconds for a second-straight third-place finish on the day.
"Devon proved that he can hold his own at this level," Needs said. "He came out and represented Carson-Newman well. His first-team finishes today show that we have athletes who know how to come out and perform. We have had an Eagle in the 100 meter final in three of the last four years. That is huge for our program.
Moore now has two All-America laurels in his career outdoor campaign. He is now the ninth and 10th All-American sprinter for the team since 2016.

Greer closed out his career with one final showing in the 5K, producing a 14:42.57 time. His 11th-best time was just enough to land in All-America territory.
The senior sat in seventh by the 2,200 meter-mark with a 6:17.74 time, but he fell down the 12th with a 1:12.14 split at 3,000 meters.
"Luke faced tough conditions this week with the heat and wind," Needs said. "When conditions are bad, he gets better. He goes out there, competes well and it is a testament to the type of athlete he is. He came int the 5K ranked 21st and exceeded expectations. I am proud of his outing and the career he has had."

The second-team honor marked his second All-American performance of the week.
