JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman's defense forced three-and-outs on the first four drives of the Eagles' annual media day scrimmage Saturday morning before the offense rallied late.

The situational scrimmage saw Carson-Newman's offense start to click in the latter portions of the day.  With a drive starting at the one, Ivan Corbin roped a bomb to Braxton Westfield for 57 yards to get out of the shadow of the goal posts.

In sudden change scenarios, Matthew Corley capitalized by hitting Drew Morrison for a score on a six-yard tight end drag route.

Later, in goal line situations, Tyree Nelson, Tyler Curtis and Corbin all found the end zone.

On special teams, Caleb Goins recovered a blocked field goal attempt.

Carson-Newman opens the season Sept. 1 at West Georgia at 7 p.m. Coverage of the game will be available on the Eagle Sports Network on Joy 620 (WRJZ-AM, Knoxville), Mountain Sports 106.3 (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
