Eagles travel to Chattanooga for Scenic City Showdown

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - For the second year in a row, the Eagles will venture to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to participate in the Scenic City Showdown.

The Showdown will take place over April 5 and 6. While in Chattanooga, Carson-Newman will play Tusculum, Jacksonville State, Austin Peay, and UTC. 

On Day 1, the Eagles will play Tusculum at 8 am and Jacksonville State at 2 pm. On Day 2 they will play Austin Peay at 10 am and the hosts of the tournament at 4 pm. 

The last time the Eagles played Tusculum was last season at the AVCA small beach champtionships. Carson-Newman took down the Pioneers 3-2, winning in seeds one, two, and three.

Carson-Newman was 1-1 against Tusculum last season. They are 3-10 against the Pioneers in their history as competitors.

C-N is 1-1 against Jacksonville State. Their victory against the Gamecocks came in 2022 in Clarksville, Tenn. The Eagles won 4-1 and won all seeds but the second. 

Carson-Newman is 0-7 against the the APSU Govs. Most recently this season, the Govs beat the Eagles twice in Early March of this season. The won 4-1 and 5-0 at the University of North Alabama. Paige Halcrow and Mckenna Hall took the only flight win in their first match with Austin Peay. 

The Eagles have not played UT Chattanooga since late last season. The Eagles lost their last matchup 2-3, though they won in the fourth and fifth seeds. C-N has not beaten UTC since March of the 2021 beach season.
