MARS HILL, N.C. - Three Lady Eagles scored goals as No. 7

3-0.
The Lions fell to 1-10 overall and 0-3 in the South Atlantic
Conference. The Lady Eagles improved to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the

Most of the first half was a back and forth affair between the two
teams, but Carson-Newman got on the board at the 40:39 mark. Trenna
Howell (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) beat Chelsea Parker (Richmond, Va.) and
scored her eighth goal of the season off a pass from Morgan
Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, Tenn.).
Carson-Newman carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half belonged to the Lady Eagles. Sandra Kaelin
(Switzerland) stretched the lead to two goals when she converted a
penalty kick at the 53:26 point. The goal was Kaelin's fourth of
the year.
Nikki Brannen (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) scored her fourth goal of the
season at the 56:13 mark. Brannen put the ball past Parker from
three yards out to give Carson-Newman a three-goal lead.
The Lady Eagles outshot the Lions 21-8, including a 13-4 edge in
the second half.
Parker made 10 saves for Mars Hill. Shannon Clancy (Toronto,
Canada), who started the game, and Lauren MacKenzie (Barrie, O.N.),
who took over after halftime, each recorded one save for
Carson-Newman.
