KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Carson-Newman women's soccer fell one spot to No. 8 in the latest Division II National Soccer Coaches' Association of America poll, NSCAA officials announced Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles (11-0-1), who had their 11-match winning streak snapped over the weekend by battling Catawba to a 1-1 tie, are also ranked second in the Southeast Region.
West Florida moved up to No. 1 after Seattle Pacific (Wash.) suffered its first loss of the season. Saint Rose (N.Y.) is No. 2, followed by Columbus State, Seattle Pacific and Grand Valley State (Mich.).
Lady Eagles' SAC rival Tusculum broke into the top 25 this week at No. 21.
Columbus State also holds the top spot in the Southeast Region, while Armstrong Atlantic State is third.
Other SAC teams listed in the regional rankings are Tusculum (third), Catawba (fifth), Wingate (sixth), Newberry (seventh) and Lenoir-Rhyne (ninth).
Three automatic berths to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament in November will be awarded to the tournament champions of the SAC, Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas. Three teams will also receive at-large berths.
