JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman's Juan Sebastian Perez (Ecuador) earned a spot on the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference first team for men's tennis Thursday afternoon.

"Juan had a nice freshman year last season," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said. "This only fired him up to do more this season. He had a nice fall season."

Perez was named to the All-SAC second team last season. He played in the no. 1 position for the entire season in both singles and doubles; he went 8-11 in singles. Perez finished 3-5 in conference play.

"He has dedicated himself to be a more consistent player this year," Love said, "as well as to be a team leader."

C-N men's tennis begins its season at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 away at Tennessee Wesleyan. The Eagles' first home match is at 2 p.m. Feb. 12 against Alabama Huntsville.
