Nighthawks soar past Eagles with 8-1 victory

WOODSTOCK, Ga. – The Carson-Newman (5-17) men's tennis team dropped today's match 8-1 to North Georgia (10-7).

 

The Nighthawks swept C-N in doubles play.

 

Garret Duron (Woodstock, Ga.) picked up the Eagles' lone point in his hometown. He defeated Eric Hollar 7-5, 6-1 at no. 6 singles. Duron is now on a three-match winning streak.

 

Jonathan Allen (Lenoir City, Tenn.) battled hard against Cameron Mistr at no. 4 singles, but ultimately fell in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

 

At no. 2 singles, Glovani Santos stole the first set of his match against C-N sophomore Juan Perez (Ecuador) 7-5. Santos secured the point with a 6-0 final in the second set.

 

The Eagles resume conference play at Anderson Friday at 2 p.m.
