Carson-Newman Women’s Soccer Ranked 11th in NSCAA Preseason Poll

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Coming off a season in which they won both the South Atlantic Conference's regular season and postseason tournament titles, the Carson-Newman women's soccer team has been ranked 11th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll.

This is the highest preseason ranking for the Lady Eagles since 2010, when they were ranked 5th by the NSCAA. That was also the last time they entered the season as a ranked squad. Last year saw C-N put together a 19-3 record and achieve the biggest single season turnaround in their conference's history after a 2014 campaign in which they went 3-14.

They also earned a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Southeast Regional Championship before falling to the eventual national runner-up in Columbus State.

The CSU Lady Cougars placed second in the poll after defending national champion Grand Valley State. Western Washington, Bridgeport and Central Missouri, in order, round out the top five.

The Lady Eagles open their 2016 season on September 1st , when they travel to Trevecca Nazerene for a 5 p.m. contest.
