Herrity Garners TSWA Player of the Week Award

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman senior forward Julianne Herrity (Donegal, Ireland) has been selected as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week on Wednesday following two games in which she totaled three goals and an assist.

This is the second time Herrity has earned this honor during her time at Carson-Newman. She was also named TSWA Player of the Week on September 22 of last year.

Herrity began her week, and her season, by scoring just 37 seconds into C-N's match against Trevecca Nazarene. Herrity received a perfect cross from Lauren Wade (Coleraine, Northern Ireland) and directed a header over the line.

Two days later, she followed up a successful start to the season with an even better performance against Lees-McRae. This time, Herrity waited 88 seconds before giving her team the lead as she took a pass from Varin Ness (Sogndal, Norway) and fired a shot into the net. In the 26th minute, she scored again, this time on a header, again on a pass from Ness. Herrity also added an assist on the Eagles' final goal of the game, as she set up Holly Talbut-Smith (Crawley, England) for her second goal of 2016.

Herrity and her teammates are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Francis Marion to play at 4pm.
