Dig Pink event slated for Friday night

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Against the Brevard Tornados on Friday October 24 at 7:00 p.m., the Carson-Newman volleyball team will join the fight against cancer with the annual Dig Pink event.

The Eagles will wear pink uniforms and are encouraging every fan in attendance to do the same. Carson-Newman is one of thousands of teams across the country that will participate in the event for the National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally.

The team is asking the community for donations towards each kill, dig, assist and ace in the contest against Brevard. The proceeds from all donations will benefit the local Knoxville affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, an international organization with networks of volunteers around the world fighting to find a cure for the life-threatening disease.

Donations will be accepted at the entrance of the match with balloons on sale for two dollars that goes towards a raffle of the grand prize item, a Kindle Fire.

Carson-Newman will honor a "Survivor of the Game" in between sets two and three.
