Harper, Lowe pinned to Southeast Region All-Tournament Team

WINGATE, N.C. – Senior outside hitter Rachel Harper (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and sophomore libero Taylor Lowe (Franklin, Tenn.) were named to the Southeast Region All-Tournament Team Saturday evening.

The duo led the Eagles to its furthest jaunt into the NCAA Tournament in program history matching the effort by the 2009 and 2010 groups. Carson-Newman was 27-7 this season with the 27 victories being the second-most in school history while the seven losses are tied for the fewest in Eagle volleyball history.

Harper was the lone Eagles to notch double-digit kills in each match as she led Carson-Newman to a sweep of third-seeded USC Aiken with 16 kills, seven digs and an Eagle NCAA Tournament record four service aces while hitting .350. She concluded the tournament with 10 kills, seven digs, three service aces and two total blocks in a loss to No. 2 seed Armstrong.

Lowe earns her first career honor as she compiled a total of 34 digs to lead the Eagles over the week. She racked up 22 digs and three assists against USC Aiken in the opening round as she had 20 or more digs for the eighth time this year and the fourth straight match against the Pacers. Lowe concluded the year with 12 digs, three assists and a service ace versus Armstrong.

In 2009, Carly Mozgai and Jessica Schachleiter represented Carson-Newman on the Southeast Region All-Tournament team while in 2010, Mozgai and Nikki James were on the team.
