JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman Director of Sports Medicine Mike Van Bruggen has made four staff changes for the 2019-20 academic year.

Former graduate assistants Dan Harrison and Lacie Giesel have been promoted to full-time athletic trainers after serving the university as graduate assistants the last two years.  Harrison will work with Carson-Newman's football and tennis programs, while Giesel will move to working with Carson-Newman's women's soccer program.  

Van Bruggen has also hired Keley Roy and Maria Mueller as graduate assistants. Roy will work with Carson-Newman's volleyball program, while Mueller will be with the swim programs.  

Roy comes to Carson-Newman from Plymoth State. She finished her undergraduate degree with a 3.98 GPA and was a recipient of the Kerkor Kassabian Eastern Athletic Training Association Scholarship Award. 

She served the football, track and women's soccer, women's lacrosse and men's basketball programs at Plymouth State. 

Roy is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and is CPR certified by the American Red Cross.  

Mueller comes to Carson-Newman after spending a year at Kentucky Wesleyan serving as the trainer for volleyball and wrestling.  

Prior to working for Kentucky Wesleyan, she finished her ungraduate degree at Wisconsin Eau Claire.  She helped the cross country, tennis, swimming and hockey programs.
