WINGATE, N.C. – In the latest American Baseball Coaches Association poll, Carson-Newman (24-6, 13-2 SAC ) has moved into the top ten, checking in at nine, while moving up five spots in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll to No. 16.

Carson-Newman continues to climb the rankings because of its winning ways in March. The Eagles are currently on an eight-game winning streak, the second streak of eight wins or more this season. It's just the third time since 1990 that the program has multiple winning streaks of eight games or more in one season.

The Eagles make their first appearance in the top ten of either poll, being voted ninth in the seventh edition of the coaches poll. C-N's 198 points were just 14 points behind Texas-Tyler for eighth in the rankings. This is the third straight week that C-N has been ranked in the top 25 by the ABCA.

Other South Atlantic Conference schools made moves up in the ABCA poll as well. Lenoir-Rhyne moves up four spots to number two and Catawba is two spots behind the Bears in fourth. Just like last week, three of the Southeast region's six ranked teams by the ABCA are from the SAC. Mount Olive 13th, Young Harris 15th, and North Greenville is 16th.

C-N makes a bigger jump in the NCBWA poll, from 21st to 16th. This is the fifth straight week that Carson-Newman has been ranked in this poll and it's the highest ranking it has received from the NCBWA.

Catawba is the top ranked SAC school, checking in at number six. LR falls in at number nine. The NCBWA has just one other Southeast region school ranked in North Greenville at 20.

Carson-Newman is in action today at 4:00 p.m. eastern time in Nashville, Tennessee against Trevecca Nazarene. The game will air with a free audio stream available courtesy of the Eagle Sports Network on cneagles.com/live.
