JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – No. 21/11 Carson-Newman (23-6) puts its seven-game winning streak and the seventh longest active winning streak in DII on the line in a pair of midweek contests with Shorter at home tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. followed by a road contest at Trevecca Nazarene on Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles have won seven straight games, their second-longest winning streak this season. It's the first time since 2019 that C-N has multiple winning streaks of more than six games in one season.

The Eagles are 10-4 in non-conference games this season, including wins over both Shorter and Trevecca Nazarene earlier this season. Both wins were part of C-N's 10-0 start to the year, the program's best start to a season in school history. The Eagles erupted for 18 runs in a run-rule win over the Hawks on Feb 4 and then later that same week, defeated Trevecca Nazarene at home 3-1 thanks to a pair of seventh inning runs.

C-N snapped an eight-game skid to the Hawks with the 18-2 win earlier this year and haven't won back-to-back games in the series since wins in 2017 and 2018. The Eagles have a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series with Trevecca Nazarene, with wins in three of the past four meetings.

When Carson-Newman scores first, it is 18-0 this season. In 2024, the Eagles won just 10 games when scoring first.

During this seven-game winning streak, Carson-Newman has racked up five games with double-digit hits, including four straight games with ten hits or more. The pitching staff has held opponents to six runs or less in all seven of the wins and has done so in nine straight games and in 11 of the 13 games this month.

The Shorter Hawks are coming off a tight weekend series in which it lost two out of three games with Barton over the weekend. The lone win came in the series finale 12-5, while both losses in the series came by one run each. Shorter found its groove at the end of February into March. It won seven straight games in the span of more than a week between months and at one point won nine of ten games. Wes Timmons' team is 19-10 this season and is 9-5 this month.

Shorter has five shutouts this season, the fifth-most in DII this season. As a pitching staff, the Hawks have a 5.37 earned run average. Offensively, the Hawks rank sixth in DII with 99 stolen bases. Ajay Jones' 28 stolen bases is fifth-most nationally. Alex Brodie is the top hitter with a team-high .349 batting average and 32 RBI.

Trevecca Nazarene will aim to snap a five-game losing streak when it welcomes Carson-Newman to Nashville on Wednesday afternoon. The Trojans are 8-19 overall this season and have just four wins in the month of March. During this five-game skid, TNU has been held to six runs or less four times and has allowed at least 12 runs in all five losses.

Pitching has hurt the Trojans this season. The team earned run average is 8.05 and they have allowed double-digit runs in 12 of their 27 games. On the offensive side, Trevecca Nazarene does rank toward the top of the Gulf South Conference in batting average and home runs. Joey Parliment's .414 batting average paces an offense that hits .295.

First pitch for Tuesday's contest at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex is set for 2:00 p.m. The games will air with a video stream available on FloSports with a subscription. There will also be a free audio stream available courtesy of the Eagle Sports Network on cneagles.com/live.
