Eagles Tie Program Record After Laurinburg Trip

LAURINBURG, N.C. - Carson-Newman beach volleyball (15-0) ties a program record for most wins in a season after a pair of victories over St. Andrews (3-9) and Bob Jones (0-4) on Saturday, Mar. 4th.

The Eagles won each of their four matchups at the St. Andrews Tournament with 5-0 sweeps. The Eagles' largest margin of victory was a 21-2 romping featuring McKenna Hall and Julia Wheeler during day one's action. The most tightly contested match came on day two when Wheeler and Hall lost an overtime set 25-23 against St. Andrews.

Truth Hafey and Sierra Still picked up their 12th win with consecutive 21-14 sets over St. Andrews. Abbey Hildenbrand and Ava Fountain continue their perfect season with 21-11 and 21-19 wins in the two spot. Mia Toribio and Taylor Keeran won their first set 21-13 but lost their second 21-16. The duo bounced back to win the third 15-9.

Wheeler and Hall lost their first set 25-23 in the four position. The Eagles bounced back to win the final sets 21-19 and 15-10. Piper Halcrow and Kenzie Palmer rounded out the starting lineup with 21-11 and 21-16 winning sets to lockdown the sweep.

Hafey and Still lined up in the one for the 15th time this year. The pair improved to 13-2 after 21-14 and 21-7 winning sets. Fountain and Hildenbrand move to 15-0 on the year after dominating in the two sets of 21-6 and 21-4.

Toribio and Keeran won their sixth straight match when they lined up in the three against Bob Jones. The Eagles won 21-9 before notching the second-largest margin of victory this season with a 21-3 win.

Wheeler and Hall notched a pair of 21-9 sets to mark their 15th win as a pair this year. Palmer and Halcrow rounded out the starting lineup during the day's second game with 21-7 and 21-3 wins.

Carson-Newman outscored Bob Jones 210-71 on the day, marking the largest margin of victory this season. Hall, Wheeler, Fountain, and Hildenbrand are nearing the record for most wins in a season. The current record, Held by Morgan Siwiec, is 20. Hall, Wheeler, Fountain, and Hildenbrand each have 15 wins with 11 more games left, excluding postseason play.

Carson-Newman returns in Jefferson City, Tenn., for the first time this season when they take on Erskine and Morehead St. in a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 11th.
