Cat Lind Releases the 2023 Beach Volleyball Schedule

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman beach volleyball's Cat Lind announced the 2023 beach volleyball schedule. Last year, the Eagles won a school-record 15 matches, including three postseason wins.

"I definitely see us getting at least 15, but my goal is that we are pushing 18 or 19," head coach Cat Lind said. "The big thing for us is the AVCA at the end of the year. Hopefully, the weekend before will prepare us for the tougher competition."

The Eagles' schedule will feature 27 matches, the most in a single season since the 2019 season when the Eagles played in 30 matches and compiled a 3-27 record.

"We are starting the season against some easier competition, so I am excited to have our schedule built to where we will peak at the right time," Lind said.

The Eagles begin the season on Feb. 3rd, when the Eagles travel to LaGrange, Ga, to take on LaGrange and Truett McConnell in a doubleheader. The Eagles will also play LaGrange and Truett McConnell on the 4th.

Carson-Newman will then travel to Cleveland, Ga, on the 10th to face off against LaGrange for the third time in a week. The Eagles are 2-0 against the Panthers, and last played them on Mar. 6th of the 2020 season when the Eagles won 5-0.

Later on that day, The Eagles will square off against St. Andrews University. Carson-Newman will remain in Cleveland on the 11th when they play Huntingdon and Truett McConnell.

Carson-Newman will play the first of their six division one opponents when they take on Tennessee Tech in Mount Berry, Ga, on Feb. 24th. The Eagles will square off against Berry College a few hours later. The Eagles will close their time in Mount Berry when they play Spartanburg Methodist on the 25th.

The Eagles will continue their streak of away games when they travel to Laurinburg, N.C., on Mar. 3rd. The day will begin with a matchup against Lynchburg, followed by a matchup against Bob Jones. The Eagles will leave Laurinburg on the 4th after they play St. Andrews and Bob Jones.

Carson-Newman begins their eight-game homestand on Mar. 11th with a matchup against Erskine followed by a game against division one's Morehead St.

The Eagles will move on to a doubleheader against Catawba on the 17th. The Eagles played Catawba five times last season, winning all five matchups.

Senior night for the Eagles kicks off on Mar. 21st against St. Andrews. Last year, the Eagles swept St. Andrews on Senior Night while setting a record for most wins in a single season.

The final matches on the banks of Mossy Creek will be played on Mar. 29th when Tennessee Tech visits Jefferson City. Carson-Newman's three matchups against Tennessee Tech are the first meetings between the two schools.

Carson-Newman ends the regular season with a trip to Chattanooga on the 31st. The Eagles will kick off the event with a matchup against Liberty, followed by a meeting with UT Martin. On Apr. 1st, the Eagles square off against Eastern Kentucky before closing the season against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

The Eagles will wrap things up when they head to Tavares, Fl. to compete in the AVCA Small College Tournament. The Eagles are 2-16 all-time at the AVCA Tournament. Carson-Newman won their first game at the tournament in 2019 and won another last season.
