Eagles Close Out Fall Season on a High Note at Eagle Invitational

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's tennis team put forth an impressive showing at home in the Eagle Invitational to wrap up its fall season, winning five of six singles against Bluefield State and one of three doubles against Tusculum.

In singles play, the Eagles took care of the Big Blue with five dominant wins. Suryanshi secured her second singles win of the fall season, and Maria Ulloa got her first. At the same time, Leah McBride, Sindija Manovska, and Natasha Forrest ended their fall season on a high note.

RESULTS:

Shreya Chackra (BSU) def. Anita Chornei (C-N), 6-3/6-2

Natasha Forrest (C-N) def. Juliana Jimenez (BSU), 6-1/6-3

Sindija Manovska (C-N) def. Adriana Torroba (BSU), 6-3/7-5

Leah McBride (C-N) def. Ghita Courdi (BSU), 6-0/6-1

Suryanshi (C-N) def. Virginia Zanotti (BSU), 6-1/6-3

Maria Ulloa (C-N) def. Paulina Morena (BSU), 6-0/6-3

In doubles play, the Pioneers of Tusculum got the better of the Eagles in two of three matches, but all three matches came within three games or less. Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves fell in tiebreaker fashion, while Julia Speiser and Leah McBride fell in a close battle. Suryanshi and Sindija Manovska earned a hard-fought victory to end the doubles action.

After a strong finish to the fall season, the Eagles shift their focus to the spring campaign.
