JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Eagles women's tennis team travels to Sumter, SC, on Friday to compete in the ITA Championships after having some early success to start the year.
Competing in the LMU Invitational last week, five of the six starters for C-N secured a win in singles play over the two-day event.
Natasha Forrest, the winningest player in the Eagles' starting six with 47 career wins, went 1-1 at the LMU Invitational with a win on day one over Tusculum's Valentina Loretz. Forrest looks to lead the charge for the Eagles going into the ITA Championships.
Another important piece for C-N in Anita Chornei, who has tallied 36 singles wins in her time with the Eagles, tallied a victory over Tusculum's Paulina Loretz in the LMU Invitational. Chornei and Forrest provide much-needed experience heading into the ITA Championships.
Sindija Manovska secured her first win for the Eagles, taking down Tusculum's Elodie Baechler. Summer Reeves and Julia Speiser also contributed to singles play, earning a hard-fought win.
All three doubles pairings secured a win in Harrogate over the weekend, with Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves leading the way with a 2-1 record.
With a 5-7 record in singles and a 4-4 record in doubles play, the Eagles will look to build on the positives on Friday and Saturday at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, SC.
