C-N Drops First Road Match of the Season to No. 17 Golden Eagles

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Carson-Newman (1-2) dropped its first road match of the season, falling to No. 17 University of Charleston (3-0), 4-1 on Saturday evening.

Due to time constraints, C-N and Charleston played only No. 1 and 2 doubles, as well as not playing No. 4 and 6 singles.

C-N secured its only point of the evening with Natasha Forrest's win in No. 2 singles. Charleston took the other three singles points in a two-set fashion.

No. 1: No. 11 Prinkle Singh (UC) def. Anita Chornei (C-N), 6-3/6-2

No. 2: Natasha Forrest (C-N) def. Sofie Krasikova (UC), 4-6/6-4/6-3

No. 3: Filippa Larsson (UC) def. _Suryanshi (C-N), 6-2/6-2

No. 4: Michelle Connor (UC) DNP Leah McBride (C-N)

No. 5: Riva Hondiashvili (UC) def. Sindija Manovska (C-N), 6-2/6-3

No. 6: Claudia Pastor (UC) DNP Julia Speiser (C-N)

In doubles, it was the Golden Eagles who secured the point, winning both of the two matches.

The Eagles will look to bounce back tomorrow, taking on Fairmont State at 5:30 PM.
