JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (2-3, 0-1 SAC) squares off with Limestone (7-3, 1-1 SAC) on Sunday afternoon.
It has been over a week since the Eagles last played, and their previous result was a closely contested 4-3 loss against Lenoir-Rhyne. In the match, the Eagles performed well in doubles, taking two out of three, with the freshman duo of Suryanshi and Leah McBride clinching the point. In singles, however, the Bears were able to take four of six matches to earn the win.
Limestone has been tested early in March, already playing three matches, while the Eagles have yet to see the court this month. The Saints were dominant in the first two matches, taking 13 of the possible 14 points in the contests against North Greenville and UVA Wise. Despite the success in the first couple of matches this month, Limestone dropped its most recent contest against Newberry.
The Saints and the Eagles will meet for the seventh time, and the Eagles hold the 4-2 all-time edge over the Saints. Limestone took last season's match, defeating C-N 5-2.
In the loss, the Eagles were forced to forfeit both the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, so with a healthy squad this time, the Eagles will look to compete at a high level.
After a long break, the Eagles will look for their first conference win of the season on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM.
