Eagles host Saints for Monday night SAC match

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman (13-15, 10-6 SAC) prepares for their final home match of the 2023 volleyball season, with a duel against the Limestone Saints (10-10, 8-9 SAC) on Monday night at 6 pm. 

Ashley Tiernan's crew is fifth overall in the SAC going into their Monday night clash. Dominant on home turf, the Eagles are 7-1 in Holt Fieldhouse. They are seventh in digs per set (16.35), sixth in kills per set (11.89), 11th in blocks per set (1.52), and seventh in assists per set (11.09).

The Saints currently stand seventh in the SAC, with eight conference victories and nine losses. They are ninth in digs per set (16.04), tenth in kills per set (11.40), tenth in blocks per set (1.54), and tenth in assists per set (10.53). Their highest conference ranking is in aces per set, where they reside fifth for an average of 1.63 per frame. 

Outside hitter Mia McMillen leads the pack with 199 kills in the 2023 season. She averages 2.80 kills per set and a .177 hitting percentage. Not far behind, outside hitter Tatum Riddle has 192 on the season, 2.70 kills per set, and a .149 hitting percentage. Calie Covey leads in the back row with 3.86 digs per frame and 274 on the season. 

The Eagles and Saints met one other time this season in mid September. Limestone came out victorious in three sets at the Timken Gym. The led C-N in hitting percentage (.291- .180), blocks (9.0-2.0), and service aces (9-5). Both teams had 40 kills on the night, however the Eagles ended with double the hitting errors of the Saints (20-10). 

Tatum Riddle led Limestone offensively with 13 kills and a fiery .522 hitting efficiency. Mia McMillen led the match defensively with 13 digs and piled on three service aces. She recorded the only double-double of the match with 12 kills as well.
