Four Personal Records Set in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Carson-Newman distance runners set four new personal records at the KMS Open on Sunday, Jan. 31 in Birmingham.

"Today was a huge learning experience for all of them and they can only improve from here," says distance coach Luke Greer. "Some didn't have the performance they wanted but it's all about improving and we will look to the future on the things we can improve."

A trio of men's runners set personal bests in the 800 meter run, with Raymond Brugmans leading the way with a time of 1:57.79. Brugmans time is just 1.57 seconds behind the school record time set by his current coach.

Christian Henry finished 33rd in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:09.64 while Trent Lovelace finished 38th with a personal best time of 2:13.83.

In the 5000 meter run, Rachel Strayer finished 12th with a time of 19:04.06 while Madison Dockery set a new personal best of 20:08.76, finishing 19th.

The entire Carson-Newman track & field team is scheduled to compete this weekend, Feb. 5-6 at the Buccaneer Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
