CLEVELAND, Tenn. - In the toughest meet of the year before conference, Devon Moore moved up the ladder in the 200 meter run with a national qualifying time on Friday, Apr. 9.

Moore finished second in his heat and third overall in the men's 200 meter run with a time of 21.15 seconds, moving him up to fifth in the nation. Moore finished behind Trevor Bassit of Ashland, who's time of 20.52 seconds ranks him first in the nation. 

Moore has now finished in the top-three of his last eight outdoor races of his career, his worst finish overall being seventh in the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championship prelims. 

Sterling Melancon finished second in his heat and 14th overall with a new personal best time of 21.90 seconds in the 200 meter run. Isaiah Weasby set a new personal best in the event for the third meet in a row with a time of 22.19 seconds.

Zuriel Jimpson set an outdoor personal best in the 200 meter run of 22.75 seconds, while Joseph Oreva followed suit with an overal personal best of his own with a time of 22.37 seconds.

Kenard Laribo set an overall personal best at 22.79 seconds, while Jordan Hibbert and Austin Greer both set outdoor personal bests, with Hibbert finishing in 23.03 seconds and Greer finishing in 23.38 seconds. 

The seven personal bests set in one event is the most for Carson-Newman track & field this season.

Courtavious Garrett used a strong third jump of 13.92 meters to get into the finals of the men's triple jump, finishing sixth overall.

In the men's 1500 meter run, Kirby Logan III demolished his old personal best by almost four seconds, finishing with a time of 4:16.23

In the men's hammer throw, Austin Gramman finished 19th with a toss of 40.86 meters, while his teammate Draven Green finished 23rd with a throw of 36.44 meters. 

The men's team sits at 11th place overall with nine team points. North Florida leads on the men's side with 33 points.

Nathalie Schumacher continued her strong junior season, finishing sixth in the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.65 meters. Schumacher has finished in the top-10  of the high jump in 10 straight meets dating back to Jan. 31, 2020. Morgan Stanton finished tied for 10th with a clearance of 1.55 meters, just 0.01 meters away from a new personal best. Stanton has finished in the top-10 of the high jump in every single meet the freshman has competed in so far. 

Abby Owens continued her hot streak, finishing second in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.55 meters, tying her personal best. Owens has finished either first or second in the pole vault in her last seven meets. 

Tia Davis finished 16th in the women's 200 meter run with a time of 25.30 seconds. Timaya Ray won her heat in the women's 200 meter run with a new personal best time of 25.47 seconds. 

Rachel Strayer finished 24th in the women's 1500 meter run with a time of 5:01.67. It is just the second time in her career that Strayer has competed in the event, finishing in the top-25 both times.

The women's team is tied for 10th in the standings with 11 points. Tiffin leads the women's side with 50 points.

The Eagles have a full day ahead of them tomorrow, Apr. 10 for the second day of the Lee Flames Invitational. The first event begins at 9:00 AM. A live stats link can be found at cneagles.com.
