Lads dethrone Royals with two first half goals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carson-Newman (6-7-2, 5-3-2 SAC) men's soccer team found its way back on a winning track with two goals in 31 minutes at Queens (3-12, 3-7 SAC).

"The men," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said, "played first class."

Redshirt junior Lucas Siqueira (Brazil) provided his fifth goal of the season and second of the week in the fourth minute of action to put the Eagles up 1-0.

In the 31st minute, junior transfer Stuart Oliver rocketed a shot from 30 yards out to the top left corner of the net to seal a 2-0 contest. Johann Pereira (Brazil) claimed the assist.

"There's a potential for goal of the season," Coach Moodie said, "scored by Oliver."

C-N outshot the Royals 14 to seven and five to one in shots on goal. Pereira led the team in shots having taken three and placing one on frame.

The men head to Alabama-Huntsville Wednesday for its final away match of the regular season. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
