JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Senior fullback Duncan Foster (Naphill, High Wycomb, United Kingdom) earned Capital One Academic All-District honors for the fall season 2014 for his performance on an off the field.

"I am grateful," Foster said, "to get this award, and very proud of my accomplishments off the field."

Foster has played in 12 of the team's 16 matches this season and has started in nine. From his defensive position, Foster has produced seven shots.

"This season has been a tough one compared to last season," Foster said. "We still have it all to play for in the conference tournament."

The 6-0 defender transferred to Carson-Newman in 2013 earning a starting spot for all 23 matches in the right fullback position. At the end of the 2013 season, Foster had acquired two assists and the third highest shot-on-goal percentage on the team at .600.

That year, the Eagles went 16-6-1 and finished second in the nation for NCAA Division II men's soccer.

"We expect our players," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said, "not only to excel on the field, but in the classroom as well. Duncan is a great example of that and what we are about at this university."

While at Carson-Newman, Foster is pursuing his Master's degree in Business Administration. He previously attended Brunel University where he captained his soccer team both years, received academic honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Science in 2012.

"It is important to maintain your academic studies off the field," Foster said, "as these are going to be with you for the rest of your life. On and off the field, we must strive for excellence and not be satisfied with average."
